Nashua Boat Launch
These pictures represent a lifetime of river running and are from the Shenango, Mahoning, Clarion and Allegheny Rivers. The one thing that our area rivers lack that the others have is access. We hope to change this situation with the building of one or more launches on the Shenango River for recreation and for faster response time to emergencies. While we are centered on the Nashua Bridge launch, we should continue looking into other launch possibilities beyond the Shenango River to include the Mahoning River. This is just not about our fire department and would help area business to supply outdoor related products or canoe rentals. The BSA would benefit with future service projects which are needed for advancement and aquatic merit badges that are just in the realm of summer camp. Conservation groups have a need to provide environmental education. Everyone wins with this type of project. With donated materials and labor it saves government funds for more important projects and gives those that help with launches either with funding or a sense of self accomplishment to show what we can do if we just try.

With
a network of launches, camping with boat access only could be constructed with donated
properties that are a liability to the owner while providing places to camp.
Many
species of wildlife exist on rivers that can not be accessed on foot.
With
increased education on waterways wildlife habit will grow and benefit.
